These photographs, taken over five years, 2010-2014, are focused on people involved in Muharram charity food preparation rituals, in various places in Iran. Muharram is an Islamic month during which Iranian Shias gather together to practice religious mourning rituals for one of their Imams (Imam Hussain). At the same time, charity food preparation rituals take place and people gather to prepare, stir, cook and distribute food. Photographs were taken in Tehran, Yazd and Larestan (Fars), Iran. This project meant to be an ongoing project.
